Ever since he tackled his first software assignment in college (he designed an elevator control system!), John Huang has loved programming. But his interest extends beyond simply writing lines of code; John is passionate about using his analytical and engineering skills to make the world a better place. As a Software Engineer at Own The Room, he builds easy-to-use digital products that enable more leaders around the world to access our trainings and unleash their potential.

John brings an impressive consumer electronics engineering background to his role at Own The Room. Prior to joining our team, he worked as a Lead Engineer at Gibson Innovations, designing IoT, mobile and bluetooth solutions for audio and smart home products. He also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at MediaTek, where he managed development of the company’s bluetooth technology. John holds a Masters with distinction in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong and is a certified Professional Scrum Master and an AWS certified developer.

When John is not building innovative technology, he enjoys playing video games and watching sports. He’s got a keen eye for the fast pace of both, having spent several years as a high school table tennis and badminton referee. John lives in Hong Kong and is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
