To call Kenny passionate about technology and innovation is an understatement. An electrical engineer by trade and a big picture thinker by nature, he’s spent the past 20 years bringing new consumer technologies to market. Kenny regularly speaks at tech conferences and has shared his visionary ideas with crowds of over 1500 people.
His career in technology started early; as a teenager, Kenny spent weekends and summers selling computers part-time. Following graduate school, he was an early hire at HotHaus Technologies, a VoIP startup whose acquisition by Broadcom was one of the largest Canadian technology acquisitions in the late 90s. After several years in a technical and customer support role at Broadcom, he returned to Asia to manage the Hong Kong-based engineering team for Irish semiconductor startup Movidius. Kenny was instrumental in helping the company raise over $21 million in capital and implementing technology that later led to an acquisition by Intel. In 2010, he joined Philips’ audio business sector; the unit sold to Gibson in 2014 and Kenny became the Head of Software and Cloud Engineering at Gibson Innovations, steering the IoT infrastructure for over 6 million devices around the globe.
In addition to multiple advanced degrees (he holds a Masters from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), Kenny also holds two US patents and one WIPO patent, and is certified in PMP, Scrum, and Six Sigma. He is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English and enjoys traveling, reading, and running.
